197 Lower Main Road (My house!)

I really like my house—the people and the house itself.  The house is on one of the main roads in a part of Cape Town called Observatory.  I love the road that we live on and the location of the house.  There seems to be an unlimited amount of restaurants and stores that I want to go to!The 17 of us each have our own rooms, which is reallyyy nice.  However, unlike some of the other larger houses that students are living in, our house is very “homey”.   I never feel suffocated because I have my own room but we have a really nice living room/kitchen/dining area that always has people in it.  I live in the first room that you see when you walk into the house.  It is one of the bigger rooms and I have a full size bed (which most people in the house don’t have).  My room is right off of the side of the main area of the house while most rooms are in the back of the house.  My only concern about my room was that at first I was a little apprehensive about being so close to the front door—(it would be the first room robbed or broken into!) However, these fears have faded once I realized that I could personally lock my door whenever I leave the house.  I genuinely feel very safe. I have started to decorate my room (as you can probably tell from the pictures).  It is going to be an on going project decorating the room because I am sure that I will find tons of fun things to add as I travel through the country.  It was important to me to make sure that my room was comfortable and very  “me” because I am going to be living here for 5 months!  The house has bars on every door and on every window to prevent break-ins.  It also has barbed- wire around the outside fore extra safety.  The front door also automatically locks behind us as we walk out.  My housemates are also cautious so I feel very safe and I am adjusting easily!
